J. Rene Munz is a unique blend of an award-winning writer and a dedicated police officer in Puerto Rico. His dual roles have profoundly influenced his writing, as evident in his novels, “Lowie Mortem: Chronicles of a Dead Detective” and its sequel, “Lowie Mortem: Time Paradox.” His experience in law enforcement has provided him with an authentic voice to narrate his tales of mystery, detective fiction, and dark fantasy.
In 2018, his debut novel received a 5-star award in the fiction category and the Illustration Award from Reader’s Favorite. The following year, it won two Latino Book Awards, one for Best Novel in the Fiction category and another for Best Spanish-English Translation. In 2021, his second book, “Lowie Mortem Vol. 2: Time Paradox”, received a 5-star award from Reader’s Favorite, while the Spanish version, “Lowie Mortem Vol. 2: Paradoja Temporal”, earned a silver medal for Best Mystery Novel at the International Latino Book Awards in Los Angeles, California.
Munz lives in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, where he finds solace in writing his next novel, serving as a full-time police officer, and enjoying enormous amounts of coffee.
